I was asked to submit a piece about the time I was pregnant and homeless. This happened after the events in Chinglish. It was hard writing about that period as I had to revisit more painful memories, including the time I was living and surviving in a squat.
It was painful recalling details, like scrabbling around in gutters for pennies, but I could see how my story could inspire and show others that they have the power to change the course of their lives too. I enjoyed doing the illustration though, as it gives me scope to inject some humour into the story.
You can find my story in edition #1373 of The Big Issue
