My latest school event took me to Tyneside, where I used to live for 7 years, so I know it well and still have friends there – a great excuse for more visits. I did two days of drawing challenges based on my middle-grade Maddy Yip’s Guide to…books, which went down a treat. The kids love it when I turn into a human doodling machine!

So what happens is, I give the kids a little briefette, then stand and marvel at their avalanche of ideas. Then I secretly choose some and draw them on a whiteboard (on the spot – so it’s a challenge for me too). Then as the pictures develop, the kids have to guess which ideas I picked – loadsa fun!
